Position Objective:

The Planner reports directly to the VP of Operations and is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the Master Production Schedule. The position works closely with Sales, Production, Contracts and Materials to create a realistic build plan maximizing manufacturing output, operating conditions, resources, and customer priority.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of products: Draws up schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts.
  • Coordinates planning with sales, marketing, accounting, quality assurance, engineering, and purchasing to develop Materials Requirements Planning schedules, and support new product introductions.
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Plans sequence of manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepares production reports.
  • May prepare lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Creates, release, coordinates & expedites the placement of purchase orders and/or delivery of material used in manufacturing.
  • Interfaces w/Purchasing, Sales, Marketing and Production.
  • Resolves problems utilizing acquired knowledge & analytical abilities.
  • Maintains the production materials inventory at optimal levels by identifying obsolete, slow moving and excess materials. Maintain reorder points and quantities, drive inventory turns.
  • Manages inventory activities for finished goods, intermediate product, work in process and raw materials. 

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. 4 year degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a rapid changing, intense, and demanding environment.
  • Outstanding spreadsheet/ database management skills along with proficiency in word processing and presentation software (MS Office).
  • Experience with Facts is not required but is a plus.
