Position Objective:


The Territory Sales Manager (TSM) will be the primary contact and business manager from MLS to an assigned list of customers ranging from 30-50 ‘high-value’ accounts in the form of a ‘sales block’.The TSM will be accountable to MLS Leadership and local teams to achieve desired sales results from his/her sales block for the company and will report to the Regional Sales Manager.

The TSM will provide an attractive offering to assigned customers including accurate and timely project solutions, execute competitive and fair pricing plans, manage detailed customer information and will structure relationships to align with MLS competitive advantages.The TSM will provide timely reports and provide good and useable information to sales department leadership.

The TSM is responsible to participate in contributing to a good and positive work environment, be punctual and structured about all internal communications and is expected to maintain a positive disposition at all times.


Essential Functions:


  • Manage and directs the sales within an assigned sales block to achieve its growth, margin and other financial targets
  • Participate in a positive and high performance team environment with all sales, operations and other company staff members
  • Build strong, positive and effective working relationships with MLS staff at all locations
  • Be knowledgeable of assigned geography – accounts, competition, product lines, pricing, MLS position, etc.
  • Structure and execute plans for segmented customers and take ownership of all assigned customers and their sales performance within sales assignment
  • Maintain primary contact and provide unparalleled service and salesmanship for all accounts within sales assignment; and provide service as necessary to any MLS customer
  • Maintain industry knowledge, product knowledge and application knowledge suitable to conduct business in a sales function for MLS
  • Prospects for new opportunities and business partnerships regularly
  • Develop full understanding and execution of all processes within business including delivery, build schedules, quoting, customer communication, order fulfillment, shipment, invoicing and whatever else is needed to maintain and exceed customer expectations
  • React positively to constructive direction and maintain a spirit of continuous learning
  • Participate in monthly branch sales meetings with each branch within the assigned geographical footprint
  • Be prepared and professional in all communication with Sales and MLS leadership
  • Be solutions driven in customer service issues and inventory needs
  • Meet booking, quote and shipment goals as defined
  • Ensure all sales materials are current and shared with customers
  • Maintain communication and reporting with MLS Leadership as directed
  • Manage and maintain a healthy and safe workplace
  • Follow and maintain execution of company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills that are proven to lead to successful sales growth and long term customer relationships
  • Great at producing increased sales results and has ability to develop strong working relationships with customers
  • Detail oriented in all aspects of professional approach
  • Knowledgeable of sales techniques in pump, motor and control business lines
  • Ability to execute reporting on forecasts, budgets and sales performance
  • Possess strong sense of urgency and implements tactical problem solving as needed
  • Ability to create and execute market, customer and product focused sales plans
  • Excellent time management skills
  • CRM and ERP technology capability and proactive use of these tools
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Minimum 3 years of B2B sales and/or business management experience
  • BS/BA Degree or 5+ years of related experience
  • Willing and able to travel at least 25% of the time
