A submersible pump is a device which has a hermetically sealed motor close-coupled to the pump body. The whole assembly is submerged in the fluid to be pumped. The main advantage of this type of pump is that it prevents pump cavitation, a problem associated with a high elevation difference between the pump and the fluids surface. Submersible pumps push fluid to the surface as opposed to jet pumps, which pull the fluids. Submersibles are more efficient than jet pumps.
Quality submersible pumps from Mitchell Lewis & Staver are designed for continuous operation, including features such as engineered polymer bearings for long life, FDA-compliant non-metallic parts for use in a wide variety of applications and field serviceability. These submersible pumps are appropriate for residential and industrial applications.
